Chapter 86 – SURABAYA (SUB) to BALI (DPS)
After a good night’s rest to recover from the previous exciting day at Mount Bromo, we headed down for a good buffet breakfast at the Novotel Hotel. After checking out, we took a grab taxi to Juanda International Airport to catch our plane to Bali. We paid 607,992 Indonesian Rupiah each for the Lion Air tickets. We boarded our 737 plane, where we managed to snag the exit row, so we had plenty of legroom. We took off and were on our way for the very short 1-hour flight to Bali, where we had a very rough landing in Bali. After deplaning, we took a grab taxi through the busy and narrow streets, past the Circle-K conveniently located steps from the hotel entrance. At the Hotel Indigo, our taxi was carefully inspected with a mirror on a sick by the security guards, before being admitted to the hotel grounds. Check-in was smooth, and we had time to look at the hotel lobby, which was decorated with lots of beautiful local wooden carvings. At the Hotel Indigo, the room turned out to be spacious and very comfortable, with its own en-suite dressing room, and a balcony that had a swing seat. As we had arrived towards the end of the day, we walked to the Sugar Sand restaurant, where we had a good supper of Balinese-style chicken and ribs with sweet potato fries, while watching the sunset from our table. Afterwards, we crossed the street to walk along the beach and take sunset pictures.
