1960s Buddy L, Jr. "Giraffe Truck" Restoration

Today, we have a fantastic custom restoration for you. This is a 1960s Buddy L Jr. "Giraffe Truck". We picked up this truck at our local flea market a few months ago and it was in rough condition. All of the panels were rusted and discolored, so much so that the blue/white were actually a shade darker than it was supposed to be. We bought it because it matches two of our previous restorations that we had completed, which was the 1970 Buddy L "Puppies Kennel" and the 1970 Buddy L "Kitty Kennel." You'll notice that this is a Junior model in the Buddy L line of toys. That means that it is smaller in size, but it also came with a cool accessory for the children. When this was new, this truck came with a toy Giraffe that would stick up out of the back of the bed. In this video, you will be seeing the 1960s iteration of the Buddy L Junior. What makes it different from the earlier models is the grill shape, and the flared front fenders.
For this restoration, we wanted to keep it original, but with a little Nixshop Twist. We felt that the original blue on the cage just caused the cage to blend into the background. What you will see is that we decided to powdercoat the page white, that way it contrasts with the bed sides.
It is not very often that these Buddy L Jr. trucks get restored, so sit back, relax, and join us as we give this toy a second chance!
