Decorah Goose Cam ~ Goslings Take Leap Of Faith & Jump! 5 Out Of 6 Make It & Take 1st Swim 🐥 4.14.25

From Raptor Resource Project: "The goslings took their Leap of Faith from N1 this morning! The drop from the nest to the riverbank is about 70 feet. Five of the goslings made it: the sixth hit a branch below the Y and did not.
The five that made it quickly re-joined their parents on the riverbank and are currently downstream from Siewers Spring Road. Make way for goslings, everyone! Hatch watch for N2B begins on Friday, April 18."

The video opens with Mom & Dad Goose on the nest with their six goslings. Lots of geese honking below as this is a very active time for goslings hatching! Dad goes out on the Y branch and Mom is on the nest waiting to fly down. But one of the six goslings is a brave fearless chick and jumps off the nest before Mom or Dad had left!! Timestamp 05:59.

As soon as the gosling jumped, Mom flew to the the ground to be with it and then Dad left. The remaining five goslings jumped one by one to the ground. One gosling did hit a branch below the Y and did not make it but the other five did successfully! Mom and Dad and their 5 goslings can be seen on the ground walking around and then find the stream and the goslings take their first swim! What an exciting day. It is sad that the one gosling did not make it (similar to last year at N1 nest) but I am happy that five goslings did survive the jump! Thank you for watching!
