Hilda's (Jean Alexander) brother Archie Crabtree (John Stratton), makes himself at home at No.13. Hilda asks him to make a pebble-dash facade for her house. Mr. Perkins (Wensley Pithey) scolds Mark Hillkirk (Mark Adshead) over the blackboard graffiti. Perkins warns Ken (Bill Roache) against getting involved with Rita (Barbara Knox). Maggie (Irene Sutcliffe) tells Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) she feels lonely. Archie begins building a porch for Hilda. Rita pops into the Rovers supposedly hoping to bump into Ken. Later, when Terry (John Barratt) tells Rita that Perkins wants to see her, she heads to the school to put things right.
