Join me as we celebrate Puthari at Ammanichanda Balyamane , the vibrant and traditional Kodava harvest festival! 🌾✨
In this video, I take you through the beautiful rituals, family traditions, and cultural significance behind this special day.
We begin at the balyamane, where the entire family gathers to honor our ancestors and strengthen our bonds. Before heading to the paddy fields, we follow the age-old custom of consuming topiyaca with jaggery water, a sacred ritual symbolizing purity and blessings.
Watch as we perform the Kadol Ale ceremony—the cutting of the first paddy sheaf—while chanting “Poli Poli Deva!”. The night comes alive with joy as we burst crackers, celebrate togetherness, and welcome the new harvest with gratitude.
We also prepare the traditional festive dish Thambutt, made from ripe bananas and thambutt powder, a sweet reminder of prosperity and new beginnings.
This video is a tribute to Kodava culture, our heritage, and the traditions that connect us across generations.
