Hey everyone, it's Matt here, and today I'm going to show you how to set up default upload settings on YouTube. This is a real game-changer because it saves you from having to enter the same details every time you upload a video.

Let's dive right in. When you upload a video on YouTube, initially, all the fields are blank.

But did you know you can set defaults for things like visibility? This means less repetitive work for future uploads.

To do this, head over to the YouTube Studio and click on 'Settings' at the bottom left. Then, select 'Upload defaults'.

You'll see options for 'Basic info' and 'Advanced settings'. Under 'Basic info', you might not want to mess with the default title since each video's title should be unique.

However, setting a templated description can be super helpful. If you have a standard chunk of text you include in every video description, like social media links or a disclaimer, you can set it here once and it'll automatically populate in every new upload.

You can always edit it later to add video-specific details. Visibility settings are also crucial.

While you can set your videos to go public immediately after uploading, I personally prefer keeping them private at first. This gives me time to schedule the release and ensure everything is perfect.

You can also choose 'Unlisted' if you want the video to be live but not searchable without the direct link. Adding default tags is another time-saver, especially if your content is consistent in theme.

This ensures your videos are always tagged with relevant keywords without having to type them in every time. Now, let's talk about 'Advanced settings', my favorite part.

Here, you can enable automatic chapters, select the default license, and choose a category for your videos. I usually leave my videos in 'None' category and sort them out later, but setting a default category can be helpful if your content sticks to one theme.

Language and caption settings are pretty straightforward. I set mine to English (United States), but choose what works best for you.

Then, there's the comments section. You can decide if you want comments on by default, moderate them strictly, or even disable them altogether.

I keep mine on basic moderation to filter out spam and offensive comments automatically. Once you've tweaked these settings to your liking, hit 'Save', and you're all set.

These defaults will apply to all future uploads, making your uploading process smoother and faster. Remember, these settings won't change anything for videos you've already uploaded; they're just for new ones moving forward.
