Soran Bushi（ソーラン節） -

北海道に伝わる日本の民謡。ニシン漁の漁師達が「ソーラン、ソーラン」と掛け声をかけ合い、網に入ったニシンを船に移す時の「沖揚げ音頭」として歌われた労働歌。

"Soran Bushi" is a Japanese folk song from Hokkaido. It was originally a song sung by herring fishery workers. They would shout amongst themselves "Soran, Soran" in order to inspire strength and morale as they pulled the nets of herrings into the ship.
Today, it is often sung during the summer lantern festival and is very popular all across Japan.


Wa fusion -

「日本のうたを世界に発信」 をテーマに掲げ、2021年に結成されたユニット。
ジャズカルテットに和太鼓・篠笛・ダンスを加えた編成はエンターテイメント性が高く、時に躍動的で、時に詩的な神秘性がある。
日本人の人生に根付いた、民謡や戦前戦後の歌謡曲に込められたさまざまな想いを、ジャズの特徴である即興性を主体とし、幾重にも展開する音と踊りで表現。
新たな彩りを加えた"日本のうた"を令和の世に放つ。

WA FUSION formed in 2021 with the motive to “bring the regional folk music and classical poetry of Japan to the world.” A jazz unit including a taiko drum, shinobue flute, and dance, WA FUSION is highly entertaining, dynamic, and on occasion spiritual in its mystique. “WA” is the oldest attested name of Japan, commonly written with the character [和] also meaning “harmony” or “peace.”
The thoughts and feelings of Japanese people are deeply rooted in their folk music and poetry. WA FUSION wishes to express them mainly through improvisation-a characteristic of jazz- and the harmony of layers of sound and dance. The group will unleash the music of Japan with a new twist to the modern world.
