Can a first-time caster pull off a 3.5kg aluminium pour? 🔥
After all the prep — building the hot wire foam cutter, shaping the foam pattern, and setting up the gear to melt and cast aluminium — it’s finally time for the first big pour!
I second-guessed plenty of potential problems along the way, but you’ll have to watch to see if a newbie can tackle such a heavy pour and get away with it on the first attempt.
This casting is one of two bearings that will allow the mast to rotate and make the Ljungström rig work on my 23ft (7m) Sharpie trailer yacht. The yacht is built with a Paulownia timber core — a design I created myself and will sail once it’s complete.
