Making Climbing Volumes

One way of making low profile pyramid volumes....
My friends who own a local bouldering wall wanted 6 pyramid volumes according to following spec:
-equilateral triangle footprint, 600mm length
130mm projection (depth) from centre of triangle base
unfinished surface with no visible screw heads as volumes are to be oiled (natural wood finish) and placed on a 'wooden screw-on holds only' type training board.
I used this calculator to find the face angles https://www.blocklayer.com/pyramid-ca... and mitre cut angle.
After some head scratching I made a first effort which didn't go well - I think more or less every angle that could be wrong, was wrong!
After a bit more head scratching, I decided to make a jig to get the base angle cut of the pieces. This angle was more than 45degrees so beyond the range on the saw, hence jig requirement. These cuts with the jig are the first cuts shown in the vid.
The other edges of the triangle pieces needed to be cut at 31 degrees to form the mitre joints. The offcuts of these cuts could then be used as splines/reinforcements along the inside of the joints (after some trimming down) - quite handy as they're at the same angle already.
I'm sure there are plenty of ways to improve the process making these and to be more efficient with the material - there was a fair bit of wastage with the method I arrived at. For just a handful this didn't really matter but if I was making more, I'd definitely be looking at iterating on the method! Overall, I was happy with how they turned out and looking forward to climbing on them soon when the walls are allowed to open again.
