CPU: I am upgrading to a Ryzen 2700X from an Intel i5 7400. This is a massive upgrade since I am going to 8 cores and 16 threads, up from 4 cores and 4 threads. This will be the perfect upgrade since I need the performance to transcode 4K on Plex. I set the CPU to run 65W limit. I noticed running the CPU unrestricted results in high temps, almost thermal throttling when stress testing(Prime95) after 30 minutes. For long term use and longestivity, I would limit the CPU to 65w if you plan to run this cpu 100% utilization occasionally.

Motherboard: I went with this specific motherboard because the heat pipes need to have clearance. Most of the motherboards have VRM heatsinks in the way however this motherboard doesn't. Also a great upgraded for the 3950X in the future ;D

GPU: I have the Nvidia GTX 1050 also passively cooled by the Streacom DB4 GPU kit. I will be reusing this GPU since works perfectly fine and is good for my use.

RAM: I am moving from 16GB 2400Mhz to 32GB 3200Mhz. I am running several servers and 16GB was not enough to run all of my servers at the same time. Ryzen also depends heavily on RAM speeds and tight timings for some workloads. 3200Mhz is the perfect mix of price to performance.

Storage: Upgrading from a failing Intel 600p 250GB to the 970 EVO 500GB. I was nearing the limit of the 250GB so when the SSD was failing, it was a sign to upgrade the whole PC.

Power Supply: Upgrading from a 120w power supply to a 450w power supply. Previously I had to underclock my GPU and CPU so it would fall under 120w. This 450w unit should allow both CPU and GPU to run near max performance.
