You Won't Believe This Canadian Lake 🇨🇦 | Lake Louise near Banff (4K POV)
Welcome to episode 7 of the cross-Canada road trip that took place during the summer of 2021 in June and July. This is a road trip that transitions from one extreme to another -- from the flatlands to the mountains -- from the French to the English -- from the cold to the hot -- from the east to the west and from coast to coast!
In episode 7, we left the hike on Tunnel Mountain and started the drive out to Lake Louise. Lake Louise is located in Banff National Park and is home to some beautiful and imposing glaciers, namely the Victoria Glacier.
We began the trip in Montreal, Quebec, and our furthest destination was the beautiful surfing village called Tofino on Vancouver Island (which is the largest island off of North America, located in British Columbia). Along the way we stopped in Thunder Bay (in Ontario), Moosomin (in Saskatchewan), Calgary (in Alberta), Banff (also Alberta), where we checked out Lake Louis and Tunnel Mountain. We then stayed near Monashee Provincial Park in the north Okanagan, before we travelled westward to Vancouver Island and camped near Tofino and Ucluelet. Of course, our sturdy beast that we took across the country was the 2017 Kia Niro.
The party was 5 men in total -- Milo, Emil, Ricky, Noah, and myself. Apart from simply seeing the vast beauty of Canada, this was largely a hiking trip, with the goal of summiting a few significant mountains. Namely, we climbed up Sugar Mountain and Mount Fosthall in the Monashee Mountains (which translated in Gaelic means "mountains of peace") which are located in the northern Okanagan valley, not far from Vernon and Kelowna. Unfortunately, however, our hiking ambitions were shattered when Ricky had a severe foot infection on his pinky toe that went misdiagnosed at 2 separate hospitals. Despite these bumps in the road, we did our best to move forward to create an unforgettable holiday that will surely be one for the books. It is also worth mentioning that the Montreal Canadiens eliminated the Vegas Golden Knights (NHL hockey teams) the night before we left Montreal, and when staying in the smokey interior of B.C. we went to local pubs to watch the Canadiens put up a solid fight but ultimately lose in the Stanley Cup Finals to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
