Cleveland weather: Impactful snow and cold on the way this weekend to Northeast Ohio

With more lake effect snow on the way, the National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning for a portion of Northeast Ohio starting on Saturday.

In addition, several counties will be under a Winter Weather Advisory beginning on Saturday.

LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING
The Lake Effect Snow Warning will be in effect from 1 p.m. Saturday (Dec. 13) until 7 a.m. Monday (Dec. 15) for the following counties:

Ashtabula
Cuyahoga
Geauga
Lake

Due to the incoming snow, 3News has also activated a Weather Impact Alert.

According to the National Weather Service, "heavy lake effect snow" is expected. "Total snow accumulations between 5 and 10 inches, with the greatest accumulations across eastern Cuyahoga County, southern Lake County, inland Ashtabula County and much of Geauga County. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph."

"Travel could be difficult with periods of sharply reduced visibility and snow covered roads due to lake effect snow," the NWS added.

TONIGHT: Cloudy skies, snow late. Upper 20s.

SATURDAY: Snow showers likely. Lake snow and cold later in the day. Temps falling through the 20s.

SUNDAY: Lake snow showers/squalls. Blustery. Upper 10s/Lower 20s. Chills below 0.

MONDAY: Lingering snow showers, clouds. Low 20s.
