Some pieces feel made for silence—this one is among them.
When I encounter a beautiful work, I find myself wanting to express it better.And yet, for now, this is the best I can do.Still, I believe there is a kind of expression that exists only in the present version of myself.
When I was a child, I used to write “Well done!” on my own drawingswith full confidence and satisfaction.Back then, I truly believed they were perfect.
But looking at them now—the paint spills beyond the lines,the colors are uneven,and the balance is far from refined.And yet, I can’t recreate that kind of drawing anymore.If I tried, it would only become something childlike,not something born of childhood.
That kind of pure, bold expression—straight from the heart—is difficult to return to.
And so, I feel the same about this performance.
There is something here that can only be playedby the person I am right now.Someday, when I look back, I may think,“I can’t play it like that anymore.”
That is why now has value.
Even if the playing is imperfect,I hold it as something meaningful—and I savor the music as it unfolds.
