Sitting above the Green River in Kent is an old steel truss bridge built by the Milwaukee Road and still used by the Union Pacific Railroad to run trains to and from Seattle. On this particular day in December, the Green River has been surging and flooding in certain places due to heavy rain plaguing it and other bodies of water in the Seattle area. It was also on this day that Subpowerzero66 and I caught a couple of UP freight trains crossing the old bridge. The first train was an empty garbage train heading to Seattle from the landfills down south. The last train was a mixed freight train heading to Portland. Despite the higher river level, the engineering of the old Milwaukee is still holding strong.
This was filmed at the old Milwaukee Road Green River bridge on the Union Pacific Seattle Subdivision in Kent, Washington. The rail line is used by Union Pacific freight trains, with most being locals, mixed freights, intermodals, and garbage trains.
