This is an application for special leave to appeal from Guyana. The Applicant seeks special leave to appeal against the decision of the Court of Appeal of Guyana ("CA") delivered orally on 31 July 2024. In that decision, the CA refused the Applicant leave to appeal a judgment of the Full Court dated 10 February 2023, which had affirmed the striking out of the Applicant's Statement of Claim (“SOC”) for it being “incurably deficient” for failing to disclose a reasonable cause of action. The Applicant had previously sought leave from the CA to appeal its refusal to the Caribbean Court of Justice ("CCJ"), but this was also refused on the basis that the CA's decision was not a final order appealable as of right. The Applicant now applies directly to the CCJ for special leave to appeal the CA's decision.
