When people hear the phrase “trauma-informed discipleship,” a common concern is whether it changes expectations, excuses sin, or redefines faithfulness.
Trauma-informed discipleship doesn’t change the goal of discipleship—it clarifies how we pursue it faithfully.
In this video, I briefly explain what trauma-informed discipleship is actually aiming for, and why it strengthens spiritual formation rather than weakening it.
The goal remains the same: forming faithful followers of Jesus. What changes is how we walk with others over time—especially when fear, anxiety, or past wounds shape a person’s capacity.
This short video introduces a framework for understanding discipleship that honors agency, recognizes the Holy Spirit’s work, and measures maturity by faithfulness over time rather than momentary struggles or emotional states.
