I'm at the end of my first walk, and that means arriving in Urk, the remarkable little town that for me exemplifies Dutch individualism. Or communalism. Or, more accurately, both. The Dutch have a profound sense of collectivism, thanks to centuries of battling the water and keeping their feet dry; yet they're also ruggedly individualistic. If you want to know more, go to Urk!
