Koboko-Yumbe-Moyo Road Project expected to last for three years from the Commencement of Works

WESTNILE- KYM road Project is a grant financed by the World Bank with its objective to upgrade the road from gravel to tarmac and it is 103.08 kilometers length. This will also cover the construction of Baringa bridge with a total cost of USD 130 million.
According to the officials from Ministry of Works and transport, the construction period is expected to last three years from the commencement of works. The contractor is Zhongmei Engineering group limited and has been on ground for about a year now.
Benefits of the Project
The project once completed it will improve transport connectivity to enhance access to all weather for quicker transportation of good and ease of access to social services and enhance cross border trade with the recent opening of the Yei-Juba road and improve security,business has flourished along the project nexus and has attracted many traders in the sub region.
in the reports,Ms Pamela Kusimba,the Communications Officer,Ministry of Works and Transport told told Journalists during a site visit on Friday that that Refugees are involved in economic activities such as agriculture,retail business and providing casual labor.
"The Bidibidi refugees settlement has various markets where refugee sell products,entrepreneurs have set up small shops to fix motorcycles,build furniture and sell goods.Trade with South Sudan and DRC is expected to improve because of the direct reliable connection the project road corridor will provide",she said.
