10/23/1975 Kansas City Scouts at Boston Bruins KC claims another shocking victory at the Garden

This is a half-hour video of action from the Oct. 23, 1975 National Hockey League game between the Kansas City Scouts and the Boston Bruins at the Garden, won by KC, 3-2.

The goals from this game were likely aired on the 11 o'clock news, probably never to be seen again, but there's so much remaining action here - nice saves, heavy checks, etc., I thought it was worth a post. If for no other reason than for the remaining Scouts fans out there.
Because for the second straight season, and the Scouts only had two seasons, lowly Kansas City came into the Garden and walked out with a victory over the established Bruins.
After a scoreless first period, Simon Nolet tallied in the second for Kansas City. In the third, Don Cherry started sending John Bucyk onto the ice, and the Chief scored twice in a row to put Boston ahead, the second a power play strike at 10:15. But Buster Harvey and Guy Charron beat Gilles Gilbert to give the Scouts the win.
NOTES: The Bruins were in a strange state at this point - Bobby Orr was hurt and soon to be gone, and in only two weeks the team would trade Phil Esposito and Carol Vadnais to the Rangers for Brad Park and Jean Ratelle, beginning the Lunch Pail AC era under Cherry. There were empty seats at the Garden and it was very quiet at times ... I don't even remember No. 28, Barry Smith, who played 19 games that season, with one goal. But I'll give him credit; he gets smoked by a check in the offensive zone but high-tails it back on defense and causes an offsides ... In 1976, the KC franchise relocated to Denver and became the Colorado Rockies. In 1982, the Rockies relocated to New Jersey where they have since been known as the New Jersey Devils.
