This video has taken a while to put together! It features extended video highlights taken from the video of ICN 1963 (Milano C-Siracusa) on a glorious winter morning (4/11/2022). This part of the video features the Tirrenica Meridionale from Salaerno to Villa San Giovanni (where the train is marshalled on to the Messina train ferry. The train was ten or twelve car with portions for Palermo and Siracusa. At the time, these trains had super power- we had an E403.006 at the lead with an E402b following up. I am not sure what we had at this part of the journey, as we were in the sleeping car third from the end of the consist and the locos scuttled off quickly at VSG. I found I could lie on the top bunk and film out of the open window using my cheap sports camera. The results are really nice though. Also, I used my old iPhone 7 plus (now used as a camcorder!) out of the back window of the train. There is some fantastic scenery on this route- particularly when the line runs by the sea. I haven't been down to Calabria since the late 90s (when the XMPR livery was only just beginning to come in) and quite a lot has changed since then!
I should point out that Sapri station was used in the latest James Bond film (No Time to Die)!!
