As vitrification methods have improved over time, Frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) has become a viable alternative to fresh embryo transfer in recent years. Controlled ovarian stimulation leads to a decreased implantation potential due to altered receptivity of the endometrium during fresh transfer, whilst improved pregnancy rates, have been reported following FET. Besides there is a reduced incidence of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS) with frozen transfers leading to many clinics offering “Freeze all” cycles for all ART cycles.
On the other hand there is a trend of increased pregnancy-related hypertensive diseases in women receiving FET, and effects on newborns. Despite the increased application of FET, the search for the most optimal protocol for preparation of the endometrium and It’s luteal support is still debatable.
Today’s ED Talk will be moderated by Dr Duru Shah in conversation with Professor Richard Paulson, to discuss the best options for preparing the endometrium frozen transfers.
