When your labs show elevated creatinine and lowered eGFR (estimated glomerular filtration rate) is it a sign of kidney disease, or a false positive? This is a question some doctors and many patients have - especially if they are bodybuilders or carry a lot of muscle mass. In this video I cover how labs estimate GFR, when it may not be accurate, and what to do if your labs show high creatinine low eGFR. Of course you can see a nephrologist, but you can also consider repeating the test while temporarily adjusting your diet and supplementation. You can also look at cystatin C, which may be a more accurate marker. I also cover some other important factors to consider while assessing whether you are dealing with a false positive as well as meds that can affect these lab numbers. If you’re creatinine has come back high, watch this video!
