Meet Kurri Quill, a photographer from Pikangikum First Nation in Northwestern Ontario. His work captures the beauty of nature, the light of the lakes at sunset, and the strength of his community.
Photography, for Kurri, is more than an art form. It is a way to heal, honour his culture, and keep memories alive. From capturing hockey games to creating images that speak against the silence around missing and murdered Indigenous women, his art carries deep meaning.
Through Jamii’s Emerging Artist program, supported by the RBC Emerging Artist program, Kurri continues to grow as an artist and storyteller, inspiring the next generation, including his daughter, to see their culture, language, and dreams reflected in their lens.
Jamii’s Emerging Artist program uplifts young artists by connecting them with mentorship opportunities that spark growth, collaboration, and community impact.
