Between Kingdoms: Spiritual Warfare and Politics in America Today - Part 2

Join Dr. Bennett and Dr. Pierce as they draw on their experience as Adventist scholars and pastors to address the unique issues related to The Great Controversy and the current American political landscape. As independent charismatic figures bring the language of spiritual warfare to center stage, and some Evangelicals seem drawn to a nationalist expression of faith, how are Adventists to respond? How do we balance being good earthly citizens and heavenly citizens? Can we be patriotic while holding to our prophetic perspective? Do current ideas about spiritual warfare in the political arena fit within a responsible biblical framework?

These are some of the questions that will be addressed to help us understand how we got to our current moment and how we can respond as faithful followers of Jesus hanging on to our Advent message.

About the speakers:
Seth Pierce is lead pastor of Sunnyside Adventist Church in Portland, Oregon. He holds a Ph.D. in communication, focusing on religious rhetoric and media. In addition to being a pastor, Seth currently hosts the Beast & Bible podcast, sponsored by Adventist Learning Community and is an adjunct religion professor at Walla Walla University. He lives in Gresham, Oregon, with his lovely wife Angela, and three amazing daughters.

Kessia Reyne Bennett is the lead pastor of Pleasant Valley Adventist Church in Happy Valley, Oregon, where she serves and worships with her husband and two daughters. Kessia Reyne came to know the Lord and the Advent message right here in the Oregon Conference. She has since pastored in Michigan and Nebraska, and earned an M.Div. and Ph.D. in theology. Kessia Reyne is known as an energetic preacher who thinks deeply and loves God's Word.
