Kenya is home to a vibrant innovation landscape and one of the most dynamic youth populations in Africa. At the same time, over 30% of its land is degraded, with far-reaching impacts on food systems, climate resilience, and rural livelihoods. In response to this dual challenge, a new economy is emerging — one rooted in restoration entrepreneurship.
This 60-minute session will spotlight how Kenyan youth, support organizations, and ecosystem enablers are transforming degraded land into viable businesses and job opportunities.
Participants will explore what it takes to build, fund, and scale youth-led ventures in land restoration — from technical skills and access to capital, to cross-sector collaboration and policy alignment. The session will also highlight how academic institutions can help shape the next generation of restoration entrepreneurs.
