LYRICS :
君が触れたら、た、た、ただの花さえ笑って宙に咲け
君に倣って、て、照れるまま座って
バスの最終時刻 オーバー
With your touch, even plain flowers smile and bloom in the air
I take after you, sitting there all embarrassed
The last bus's time is over[1]
いつもの通りバス亭で、君はサイダーを持っていた
それだって様になってるなあ
しがない物書きであった僕はその風景を描いていた
隣に座る間も無く消えた。バスが走っていく
At the usual bus stop, you had a bottle of soda[2]
Even that makes you pretty good-looking
I, a writer of no significance was depicting the scenery
You disappeared before I could even sit beside you. The bus is running off
書いて書いてようやく得たものが 妬みとか蔑みとか!
なんかもう忘れたい
Writing and writing, what I finally got was envy, contempt and the like!
I just wanna forget about it already
君が触れたら、た、た、ただの花さえ笑って宙に咲け
君が登って、て、照れる雲も赤らんで飛んでいく
With your touch, even plain flowers smile and bloom in the air
You get up, and even the clouds turn red with embarrassment as they soar
君がいるなら、た、た、退屈な日々も何てことはないけど
君がいた騒々しい夏もさよなら
誰か応答願う オーバー
With you here, even the dull days are no big deal
But this is farewell to that restless summer with you
Somebody, please respond. Over.[3]
雨の街路脇、君は立っていた
片手には赤い
カトレア
You were standing on the side of the rainy street
In one hand was a red
Cattleya[4]
君の流した水滴が夕立ちみたく伝っていた
君が泣いてるのに手は動いた
The droplets of water you shed were trailing down your face like an evening shower
Though you were crying, my hands moved along
声もかけないで
その顔を書いていた
Without even saying anything
I was writing about that face of yours
吐いて 吐いてようやくわかるのが痛みです 虚しさです
なんかもう馬鹿みたい
Spitting and spitting out what I felt, what I finally understood was the pain, the futility
I feel like such an idiot
満たされるから、た、た、足りてた分を落として 嫌になるんだよ
それで良かったって笑えるほど大人じゃないのにさ
Since I’m fulfilled, I drop what completed me and I get sick of it
Even when I’m not mature enough to be able to laugh and say I’m glad it happened
君が乗り込む、バ、バ、バスの隙間に僕の場所はないから
君がいた想像だけが嵩んでいく
There’s no open spot for me on the bus you’re boarding
So I only keep imagining that you were here
今日も人生俯瞰、オーバー
Catching a bird’s-eye view of life as always, looking over[5]
君が歩けば花が咲く
君が歩けば空が泣く
君が笑えば遠い夏
笑う顔が書いてみたい
When you walk, the flowers bloom
When you walk, the sky cries
When you smile, that distant summer…
I want to try writing about your smiling face then
夕立の中泣く君に
僕が言えるのなら
もう一回あの夏に戻って
If I could just say something to you
who cried in the evening shower
Come back to that summer one more time
君が泣いてる、と、と、止まらない訳を僕は知っていたい
君に触れたら、て、て、適当なことでも喋ってみよう
You’re crying, and I want to know why you won’t stop
When I feel you, I’ll just try and chat with you about whatever
君がいたから、た、た、退屈な日々も何てことはないのさ
君に笑って、て、照れるまま座って
バスの最終時刻、オーバー
Since you were here, even the dull days were no big deal
Giving you a smile, sitting there all embarrassed
The last bus's time is over[1]
NOTES:
[1] In this song, the word “over” appears a couple times, and n-buna plays with several different meanings of the same word each time. In the line バスの最終時刻、オーバー, it is simply referring to the fact that the time for the last bus has ended. It is over.
[2] Though it is spelled as cider, in Japan this word refers to a a type of sweet, carbonated drink, usually fruit-flavored. Here I translate it to soda.
[3] In the line 誰か応答願う, there is a phrase in Japanese, 応答願います, which is used often in radio communication, and may be translated to something like “Please respond.” The English equivalent of this is saying “Over” at the end of your message, indicating that you are finished with your message and are ready to receive a reply, serving the same function as the Japanese phrase. n-buna uses both of these together.
[4] As mentioned in the notes for Cattleya, the flower that appears in the lyrics of this song is a red cattleya, which in Japanese flower language stands for “the charm of a mature adult.”
[5] The third “over” is in the line 今日も人生俯瞰、オーバー. As 俯瞰 means having a bird’s-eye view of something, here it is used like the “over” in “overlooking” and may also be combining 上 and 終わり into one word.
