Curator, writer, and historian Glenn Adamson wrapped up the Denver Art Museum’s "Who Owns Culture? Appropriation and Appreciation in the Global Art World" 2019 symposium with a discussion about the complexity of the work around appropriation, the future of appropriation, the opposite of appropriation, and how these ideas translate into our political ideologies on a global scale.
The museum's Native arts department hosted the "Who Owns Culture?" symposium on cultural appropriation and appreciation in art on February 23, 2019. The symposium offered a space to have challenging conversations and discuss the gray areas between appropriation and appreciation.
