Epic 3-Day Yosemite Backpacking Trip | Clouds Rest, Half Dome & Mist Trail

I met up with @JerryArizona and Tina in Yosemite National Park for an unforgettable 3-day backpacking adventure through some of the park’s most iconic terrain.

Day 1:
We kicked things off at the Sunrise Trailhead on Tioga Road, immediately climbing into Yosemite’s high country. The big objective for the day was summiting Clouds Rest, one of the best viewpoints in the entire park, with jaw-dropping panoramas of Half Dome, Tenaya Canyon, and the high Sierra. After soaking in the views, we descended to Sunrise Creek, where we set up camp and settled in for the night under the stars.

Day 2:
An early start led Jerry and me to the base of Half Dome, where we clipped in and climbed the legendary cables route to the summit. Standing on top of Half Dome is always surreal and never gets old. After the climb, we packed up camp and headed down to Little Yosemite Valley Campground. To wrap up the day, we cooled off with a refreshing swim in the Merced River before enjoying our second night in the backcountry.

Day 3:
We wrapped up the trip by hiking the famous Mist Trail, passing thundering Nevada Falls and Vernal Falls as we made our way back toward Yosemite Valley. The spray, rainbows, and granite walls made for the perfect finale to the trip. We finished things off with a well-earned overnight stay at Curry Village, sleeping in a classic canvas tent—the perfect way to end an epic Yosemite backpacking journey.
