Finally getting back to the Vincent Rapide project and removing the timing side case to reveal an engine looks a little more worn than I anticipated.
I guess I was expecting the inside to look as shiny as the outside. However all the pinion teeth look to be in good condition and it it seems that just a few washers and nuts may be missing. But it leads me to believe that I should continue to take apart the timing chest assembly in order to check out the pinons, cams and lobes, etc.
I may put the bike back on the bench to raise it up in order to get a better view of the timing chest.
Please note that this is how I approach some of these maintenance jobs, so please remember to consult your owners manuals.
