I waited for this board for a whole year from the original group buy date. I have another TKL coming in called the Spyder TKL, and these two boards will be the last of the boards I will buy. Maybe or maybe not? This board is HEAVY. I couldn’t believe how heavy it was until I took it out of the case to inspect it. I was in awe about how heavy this board was. I was shocked by this piece of aluminium being the end game of all endgames. End game, to me atleast, was a myth. Hobbyists, like collective hobbies, have people that are overconsumers. GMK this, MX Blacks that. A new HMX switch? Another beige set from GMK? Hell we all buy it because we can and because we want to perfect our boards. I felt like I was starting to get out of touch of the hobby since the beginning of this year. I was just patiently waiting for this board to come in and it feels like PNC has just been hit. It was finally the end game we all wanted. Me personally, I have been intrigued by WKL TKLs ever since I got deeper into the hobby. But like most times, I couldn’t afford the higher end TKLs. I promised myself to only get a high end TKL to finish off my collection.

In comes the Geon F1-8X V2 GB announcement from Spring of 2024. I was excited. I looked up sound tests of the original and I was hyped. I bought my unit in March of 2024 and waited, and waited, until late winter 2024 and early 2025 where Geon announced his shipping schedule for the boards. I looked at the Divinikey ship date and I was ecstatic. Will this finally be the end game TKL? Oh shit, I forgot to order a PCB and next thing you know, the F1 arrives on my doorstep on May 4th. I was scrambling to find a hotswap PCB for the board. (I’m a normie, I don’t know how to solder). I remember the name Mechlovin, and I ordered the PCB. Upon arrival of the board, I noticed that it didn’t support C3 unified, so I emailed support and asked them to switch the PCBs. Then I waited, and waited. The PCB arrives and I check and they have been switched to on-board USB-C, thank you so much.

Building this board felt like a breath of fresh air. I personally haven’t built anything since the Kalamkorn. I bought these MX Browns from the mechgroupbuys discord, and honestly, I forgot the specs on these. All I know is that these have been diamond polished, spring swapped, and lubed with 205g0. The overall tone of this board is what I expected and I was happy with the results. The MX Black in the spacebar is probably my best spacebar on a board. The color matching to Modern Dolch R2 is literally spot on, it feels like the match was made in heaven. Was this worth the weight, I mean wait?

Absolutely. I have been waiting for a high end TKL for so long and now I finally have it. I swore to myself to only buy what I need as opposed to buying what I think is cool. Over-consumption is what kills people and drives people to debt. I long to not be part of the crowd and just enjoy what I have and what I earned. The keyboard hobby is coming to an end for me, however, I will take part of the sidelines and tuning into blacksimon’s vods and how he loves classic boards. The hobby is at its last breath for me until the Spyder TKL comes in and I will be at rest.
