It has finally arrived: The Spyder TKL in all its glory.
I remember seeing this board from Flybeck from January 2024. I thought nothing about it besides it being cool and sounding pretty crazy with MX Browns. I then saw the IC and I was honestly intrigued because I have seen Porsche inspired keyboards out there, but I never got one because of money.
I joined Discord and I saw many prototype videos like Tay, Vinny, Taeha and Blacksimon, and I was hooked. I never had a classic TKL inspired by the OTD360 or the Matrix 1.2. I had always heard sound tests of those boards but never had the chance to even have something close to those boards.
In comes the Spyder TKL, where classic meets modern prices and manufacturing. I honestly know nothing about the manufacturing process, but being able to have this board be under 300 dollars was up my alley. I didn’t wanna spend up to thousands of dollars to even have a Matrix or an OTD. This was an ode to the classics. Visually, this board is angular, being inspired by the 360c sides. A classic box on wedge design that flares out a little bit. The HG sides are mesmerizing and the external weight is classically inspired by the Matrix.
Building the board was pretty easy. Almost everything was plug and play. And it felt pretty nice to have a classic top mount board, as I never experienced a top mount TKL. I however didn’t like the top mount spacebar when I built it, so I tried the gummy o-ring mount, which is personally my favorite mounting style. The spacebar to me still sounded weird. I switched my spacebar to an MX Black I lubed previously and that solved the issue. After figuring that out, I immediately loved the sound and the feel of the board.
The wait for this board was absolutely worth it. This will most likely be the very last board that I buy. Life, for me at least, is moving at a great pace. I will most likely be accepted into a nursing program for Spring 2026 and I need to fully focus on that. Bills and other necessities are getting expensive.
I work as a barista and as a medical assistant, and having these two jobs makes me love my life even more. I am really confident in my next stage of life, and I feel the slight burnout of building boards at times. I haven’t tinkered with the F1 or any of my other boards since I built it in May 2025.
Life is good.
