In this video, I am discussing a simple, yet very neat circuit built around a push-pull-output comparator to blink an LED. After a brief introduction into comparators, I discuss the circuit and show why hysteresis is critical and how it is achieved. I conclude with measurements on the actual circuit and calculations of the blinking frequency.
The circuit is also shown on this page, where an additional diode and relatively low series-resistor provide for a low on-time of the LED, compared to the off time: http://www.discovercircuits.com/DJ-Ci... (This circuit is actually quite close to what I have in mind for the low-power version).
