1. Aどころではないis used when you want to explain to others that the situation is urgent or difficult and that you are not in a situation to do A. Same as ～状況じゃない/～場合じゃない.


お母さんが入院したので、誕生日パーティーどころではなかった。
→お母さんが入院したので、誕生日パーティーを楽しんでいる場合ではなかった。
It wasn't the time to enjoy a birthday party since my mom was hospitalised.


今は受験のことで頭がいっぱいだから、恋愛しているどころではない。
Since my head is only thinking of exams now, I can't even think of being in a relationship


とても気まずい雰囲気だったあまり、冗談を言うどころではなかった。
The atmosphere was so awkward that it wasn't an occasion for telling jokes.

＊気まずい：feel awkward


2. A どころではないis used in connection with words expressing degree or quantity to emphasize that the degree is extreme. Same as ～という程度を越えている. [beyond; not just]


暑いどころではありませんでした。溶けてしまいそうでした。
→暑いという程度を超えて、溶けてしまいそうでした。
It was beyond hot that I almost melted.

＊～てしまいそう"I really shouldn't do it, but I might do it", "I really don't want to do it, but I might do it"


今回の災害で亡くなった方の数は百人どころではない。
The number of people who died in this disaster was not just a 100.


彼が今まで重要な会議に遅刻した回数は5回どころではない。
The number of times he has been late to important meetings is not just five.


それどころではない comes at the beginning of the sentence or when you refer to what was mentioned just before.
どころじゃない is used in casual conversation.


A：今日飲み会に行こうよ！
B：残業しなきゃだから、それどころじゃないよ！
A: Let's go to a drinking party today!
B: I have to work overtime, so I’m too busy to even think about that!


Ａ「ちょっと、手伝ってくれない？」
Ｂ「今、忙しくて、それどころじゃないよ。」
A: "Would you mind helping me?"
B: "I'm busy right now, so it's not the time."
