RIVIÈRE GENTILLY PRT-1//2025//BÉCANCOUR QC//Twisty forest trails, down into lush river banks...

This is the first part of a two part series where I'm checking out the vast trail network of Parc Régional de la Rivière Gentilly. This trail network is very unique in that it bobs and weaves throughout various types of old growth forest with some sections dipping down the steep river bank walls, into the river valley below. Expect lot's of twists and turns, punchy climbs, lush fern beds, cozy river views and a whole lot more.

Trail 21:
7/10
A very easy, family friendly beginner trail, with a small skills park in the middle. Great for a warm up session.

Trail 22 (Keystone):
7.8/10
This is a LONG, epic trail. Expect a ton of variety in the terrain, from tight forest single track, super punchy climbs, quick descents, and riverside trail sections. Bring your legs, you'll be pedaling. Would get higher points except this section of forest has a lot of little roots that impede the flow at times..

Trail 23:
8/10
Very similar to the 22, but a little shorter and a little less involved. I'd even recommend skipping 22 and just doing this one instead.

Trail 24:
6.8/10
Overall, this trail is ok, it has some nice sections, but it is LONG, like REALLY long. The first half is on flat ground, very repetitive, the second half has a bit more character but still nothing great. It's worth taking the intermediate loop in the middle (24B) as it dips into the valley and runs along the river below, however the climb back out is a bit of a pain...
