Let’s discover the incredible story of Hendrick Hamel (헨드릭 하멜), a Dutch sailor shipwrecked in 17th-century Korea. He was held captive for 13 years during the Joseon Dynasty and his journal became the first Western account of Korea, unveiling its culture to the world. Join me in exploring his adventure, survival, and lasting impact! Hamel's story is similar to Jame's Clavell's novel Shogun, in which John Blackthorne is stranded in Japan at the end of the 16th century.
(It’s worth noting that many things that Hamel wrote, are his own observations and not mine.)
