Warm Minimalism by the Sea | A Timeless Coastal Home by Georgina Jeffries

Melbourne-based interior designer Georgina Jeffries reimagines a 1916 weatherboard cottage in the coastal town of Lorne, Victoria, transforming it into a warm and character-filled retreat for her family. Situated where bushland meets beach along the Great Ocean Road, the home reflects Georgina’s design philosophy through layered warmth, material integrity, and a relaxed coastal spirit.

Originally a modest beach house, the cottage has been refreshed and expanded while staying true to its simple, grounded charm. The redesign introduces three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a guest bungalow, opening the interiors to the surrounding landscape. Natural light, timber finishes, and Royal Oak Floors’ toasted oak boards create a seamless connection between indoors and out, while personal touches and treasured mementos infuse the home with heart.

For Georgina, her partner Troy, their daughter Dusty, and dog Tarki, the house embodies a slower, more intentional way of living. What began as a coastal escape during Covid has become a permanent family sanctuary — a place of lasting memories.
