What is a gift of equity? This video describes what it is and how it's built into the contract. This video is useful for both buyers and sellers when selling to a family member. It is also useful for loan officers because it is relatively easy to understand what a gift of equity is when buying a house, but harder to pin down the numbers when it comes time to write the contract. I created a tool to make it easier to understand--or basically closing costs explained visually.
