If you are going to use your 401K to buy a house, this video breaks down how to do it and what the underwriters are looking for. I focus on conventional loans and FHA loans. The guidelines are different for each loan product but the process to source the funds from your 401K are similar. You can take a loan from your 401K, simply liquidate part or all of your 401K, or you may be able to withdraw funds as a "hardship withdrawal."
