2nd ride the new Trek Slash+. 9.7 SLX/XT. I normally ride a full power Trek Rail 9.8 Gen 3 GX AXS in size Large (I am 6'2" tall and 190 lbs). I have been wanting to try this new high pivot frame design with the mid power TQ motor. This bike has a much different feel while riding compared to my Trek Rail. The over riding first impression while riding is lightweight. This bike is about 46 lbs while my Rail Gen 3 is around 54 lbs. The Slash+ is so playful and light feeling. The longer travel suspension is very absorbing over the chop. The rearward arc of the rear axle (thanks to the high pivot design) lets the bike flow over the abrupt step/edge kind of bumps that can tend to slow a normal pivot bike down. It is noticeable.
The TQ motor feels almost invisible in terms of noise and also in terms of assist (which is both good and bad). Coming off full power Rail I naturally want more power out of the Slash+! However I think the trade off of lightweight agility is good especially for more fit and in shape riders. What a fun bike! Looking forward to more rides soon!
