This started with a spring. Literally, a chunk of steel cut from an old coil.
I thought I could grind it into a marking knife blade.
Spoiler: I couldn’t.
Plan B was a scalpel blade. Except the hole was wrong, the screw didn’t fit, the steel flexed, and honestly… scalpels just aren’t meant for woodworking.
Then I shaped the handle.
And what came out was chipped, uneven, and just plain uncomfortable.
So yeah, this should’ve been a simple DIY tool. A quick win.
Instead, it slowly unraveled into one of those failures that doesn’t explode dramatically…
It just refuses to work.
Failure cuts deep.
But it also teaches.
And I’m not done with this idea yet.
