In honor of obtaining a milestone of 1000 subscribers I present my first video featuring the 1912 Edison Opera Phonograph from my collection. Everything you have read or heard about the Edison Opera Phonograph being the pinnacle of Edison's achievements in perfecting the sound and operation of a cylinder phonograph is true. With a super smooth, whisper quiet motor and telescoping floating mandrel playing under a stationery reproducer through a wooden horn these phonographs were a marvel in their day more than 100 years ago. And the relative few that remain today are cherished by those who appreciate their outstanding attributes. The cylinder I selected to play on my Edison Opera is a very scarce Lakeside (sold by Montgomery Ward) 4 minute title dedicated to the US Mailman, "TRAMP COMES THE MAILMAN" sung (I believe) by Harry MacDonough (uncredited). As always, I thank you sincerely for stopping in for a visit and hope you enjoy the video.
