BHFD GEC 2022! (Combo Day 1 & 2 Activities)

BHFD GEC 2022 was the first girls camp in the history of the department.

Girls from all over the county took part in this 2-day camp which featured lessons and hands on activities including - ground ladders, aerial ladders, fire extinguisher training, search and rescue, forcible entry, first aid, CPR, Fire Hose Operations, and so much more.

Run by BHFD Engineer Melissa Hillis, with the support of the department, community, and female firefighters from all over the county, the camp was a huge success, and will be hosting another one in Fall 2023.

The camp promotes positivity and support to young women so they know they are capable of being firefighters. Over the 2 day camp they learned what it was like to wear gear worn by firefighters, and participate in activities that firefighters do on a daily basis. The camp concluded with a job fair and graduation in front of the family, friends, the Beverly Hills City Council and the BHFD.

** All activities were performed under the direction of professional firefighters, in a safe and managed environment, with safety gear for each camper **
