お正月用の食材（カニ、タコ、数の子など）を求める人々で12月28日〜31日にピークを迎え、特に30日は最大50万人以上が訪れる大混雑（「年末の風物詩」）となり、通路も進みにくいほどですが、同時に超お買い得品も出る時期です。多くの店舗が休まず営業し、1月1日も営業する店が多いですが、一部店舗は早めに閉まることもあり、現金必須・混雑必至なので、効率的な買い物のために事前リストアップと早めの時間帯（特に午前中や大晦日の朝）が狙い目です。

The peak season for New Year's food (crab, octopus, herring roe, etc.) is December 28th-31st. On the 30th, the crowds reach over 500,000 people (a "year-end tradition"). It's so crowded that it's hard to navigate the aisles, but it's also a time when some amazing bargains are available. While many stores are open every day, even on January 1st, some may close early. Cash is essential, and crowds are inevitable. To shop efficiently, make a list in advance and aim for an early time (especially in the morning or on New Year's Eve).
