Learner admissions in Gauteng are under pressure as the 2026 school year begins. Frustrated parents are queuing outside education offices, accusing the province of poor planning while thousands of learners are still without school placements. Most of the backlog is in Ekurhuleni and Johannesburg East, and some parents say children are placed too far from home.
