The gravel road we took when leaving our farmstay at Salem Rus for Richmond, was a stunning one. Then again, every gravel road is stunning in my eyes. We crossed the border from the Western Cape into the Northern Cape on this road. In the past we would only notice the filling station on the N1 as we arrived in Richmond to refuel. This day we approached Richmond from the other side of town and this gave us a totally new vibe of this beautiful town full of surprises. One of only two horse museums in the world is here and the other in Kentucky. I had to see this place and it was well worth a visit. Driving through the streets was a real treat. Cute houses, neat streets and interesting things to see. Not to mention the friendly people. A very interesting fact about this town is that it is known as the only book town in South Africa. It sells more books for its size than any other town in South Africa.
