Luke 9:51-62 shares the time in Jesus' pilgrimage on earth where he "set his face towards Jerusalem." As we become companions with Jesus on the Way, we join Him with our minds and our souls. Our souls have a focus, a true North compass point which guides our walk through life on this earth. In this scripture and in the story of the good Samaritan in chapter 10, we learn about a pilgrimage faith that takes us out, into the world, encountering people of many and differing faiths. Surprisingly we find that being with Christ in the world will guide us into the diverstiy of the world, in what Richard Rohr calls the Universal Christ. We ask ourselves, 'what does my heart know about following Jesus (not just my head)?' 'what does my soul prompt us to do as a follower?' Today we explore Jesus' invitation to be on the journey with him.
