This video describes Vinay and Darbelnet's model in translation studies. They have given two strategies and seven procedures. The two strategies are -- direct or literal translation, and oblique translation.
Vinay and Darbelnet proposed seven methods or procedures, they are borrowing, calque, literal, transposition, modulation, equivalence, adaptation. Each of which can be used at the linguistics level of lexis, grammar and text. These have been explained along with the examples from Urdu and English. For example, Vinay and Darbelnet referred to transposition as changing word class without changing meaning.
