If we have an organism with an unknown genotype but we know its phenotype, we can perform a test cross to determine what its genotype is. This video describes:
1) What a test cross is and how to perform it
2) How to figure out the likelihood of results in the offspring
3) How to apply that information to determine the unknown genotype of the parent individual
Here we use pea plants as an example, although test crosses are frequently performed on other organisms as well, such as fruit flies.
