Lip Slurs for Trumpet

In this video I talk about my original lip slur exercises, why I created them, how they are different and what the best procedure is for practicing them.

I created the new lip slurs for trumpet because traditional lip slurs do not fit into the Physical Trumpet Pyramid practice structure. If you don't use my books, then traditional lip slurs are better than no lip slurs at all. But within my system, there is no comparison between the benefits of these original trumpet lip slurs and the traditional ones.

They are different in a number of ways. Most significantly is that there are less of lip slur exercises. Because the purpose is different, the need to do so many lip slurs is no longer present.

The best way to use these new lip slurs for trumpet is to:
1) Use them as part of the Physical Trumpet Pyramid structure.
2) Avoid drilling them.
3) Give top priority to air (not accuracy).
4) Adjust for your current range.
