*Surrounded by Police! (Part 1)

It's Police Week! Started back in 1962 by President John F Kennedy, Police Week takes part every May in Washington, DC. During this time, there are numerous events to honor our nation's finest. These include ceremonies such as the National Peace Officers Memorial Service at the U.S. Capitol, a candlelight vigil on the National Mall, and services at the National Peace Officers Memorial. In this series, we will focus in on Wednesday, right in the middle of Police Week. We will be spending our time next to the Capitol Building Reflecting Pool. Here we will get a close-up look at the Police Vehicle Display and Shine, which is a showcase of classic and vintage police vehicles going all the way back to the 1950's. We will also see police and border patrol honor guard ceremonies from units across the country. These are not only presentations of honor guards and vehicles, but actual competitions with awards ceremonies at the end. And let's not forget about the really cute border patrol dogs that you're allowed to pet! Grab your license, registration and proof of insurance, and let's go!

In this channel we explore events and places, both on and off the beaten path, in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area (known locally as The DMV - DC, Maryland, Virginia). Get ready for festivals, parades, celebrations, memorials, iconic buildings, neighborhoods, museums, cemeteries, parks, etc. You will also get insight into what my job is like as a tour director/ tour guide for visiting school groups in relation to what is being covered in the videos.
